How It Works

The system is made of one charging platform installed on the ground and one drone retrofit-kit mounted on the drone. When the drone lands on the platform, two contacts installed on the landing gear of the drone physically touch the surface of the charging platform establishing the electrical connection. As long as the drone lands on the platform, the system always works at its maximum efficiency regardless of position, dimension, and orientation of the drone.

How long does it take to charge a drone?

Skysense Charging Stations are based on proprietary direct contact technology. Induction/Magnetic resonance is not involved. Skysense direct contact technology has virtually no loss in efficiency, thus, the charging rate only depends on your battery specifications. Indoor charging pad can transfer up to 350W while it reach 500W in the outdoor edition. Please check this website for an estimation of the charging time of your battery.

Does it work in the rain?

Skysense Charging Pad Indoor is IP44 thhus is cannot come in contact with water. Skysense Charging Pad Outdoor is IP65 thus it can operate in rainy conditions and when its surface is wet.

Which battery type do you support?

The system supports all 3-12S LiPo batteries.

What drone brands are supported?

Skysense systems are compatible with all commercial drone brands nowadays on the market including DJI, Yuneec, Parrot, Ascending Technologies, Inspired Flight and more.

What drone would you recommend to be used with your platform?

The choice of the drone highly depends on the application scenario. For this reason we cannot recommend any specific drone.

How does the drone land precisely on the platform?

THe drone should be equipped with a precision landing system providing a minimum accuracy of 20 cm.

How do I know what is the status of the battery?

Customers can use Skysense API, command line tools and GUY to monitor the charging padd and battery status.

What is the weight of the drone kit?

The weight of the drone kit to be installed onboard, ranges between 10 and 150g depending on the configuration.

How can I communicate with the Skysense Charging Platform?

It is possible to manage and monitor the Skysense chaerging network via API, command line tools and GUI.
